Welcome to 1st Friends Nursery
At 1st Friends Nursery, we provide a happy, safe, and caring environment for children aged 2 to 5. Our dedicated and qualified staff foster a calm and stimulating atmosphere, allowing every child to flourish and reach their potential.
Little Buddies
This area is warm, inviting, and packed with fun learning spaces. The room is divided into several zones including a cozy book corner, math and language activities, a cookery corner, and an art station. We also have plenty of space for music, movement, and physical activities. Reggio Emilia-inspired activities help children develop concentration and cognitive skills. Children also have access to outdoor space with learning activities and free play in our main garden during playtime.
Exploring Friends
This is the name of the group for children approximately 3 to 5 years old. Our pre-school space is designed to nurture independence and provide excellent preparation for the transition to primary school. We focus on key learning areas such as practical life skills, maths, language and literacy, sensorial exploration, culture, and art. Through a blend of child-led exploration and structured activities, we encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.
Our Approach
Reggio Emilia at 1st Friends Nursery
At 1st Friends Nursery, our toddler and pre-school groups (Little Buddies and Exploring Friends) blend traditional and Reggio Emilia approaches, providing children with an introduction to the Reggio Emilia philosophy within the context of the EYFS framework.
Once children join the Exploring Friends pre-school group (at approximately age 3), they transition to the full Emilia Reggio curriculum, supported by a dedicated team of Emilia Reggio-trained staff. The Reggio Emilia curriculum aligns fully with the EYFS Early Learning Goals, ensuring that children are well-prepared for the transition to primary school.
